Protect and Resist: National Day of Action

Now that Trump is officially in office and has signaled at plans that will put so many people—immigrants, trans folks, and working families—at risk, we’ve been feeling a lot of fear and frustration. And, we’ve also found hope and energy by connecting with others who share our concerns and are ready to take meaningful action.

One thing is for sure—when we stand in solidarity for a cause, it is empowering and we are building something better.

On Saturday, February 1st, SURJ is organizing a National Event known as the Pledge to Protect and Resist Day of Action. All across the country, elected officials and other community leaders are being asked to sign a pledge to resist Trump’s antidemocratic and immoral actions, and to champion the safety, dignity and basic human rights of all people.

Here in the KC area, our National Day of Action, will be held at 2pm, at the office of U.S. Representative Sharice Davids, 9200 Indian Creek Parkway Overland Park KS 66210.

We’ll gather outside her office and call on her to sign our pledge. There will be motivating speeches and a community of folks fighting for the greater good with song and celebration.

Can you join us and forward this onto others you think might be interested?
