Talking to People we Love about Racism: a Calling-in Training

As white folks in our relationships with other white folks-- family, friends, co-workers, neighbors--there are moments we must confront. Sooner or later, we will face a conversation that reinforces white supremacy. A lot of the time, we understand the importance of contradicting these words and actions, but we don’t always know how to respond. There aren't many examples of how to challenge and hold others accountable. And what we often see modeled is rooted in argument and shaming, rather than a shared desire for growth. If we shut each other down, we'll never build the power we need.

To effectively grow a vast multi-identity movement to end white supremacy, we must engage and mobilize a significant number of white people to embrace and act upon an anti-racist agenda. And we must continue to love each other. This cannot happen unless we learn the difficult work of CALLING IN folks in a way that brings them to the table and engages. We want them to join our efforts to disrupt white supremacy in ourselves and the community at large.

At this 2-hour training workshop, we will dive deeper into learning what it looks like to “call in,” and we will take time to build an action plan with other folks in our movement. This training will include virtual break-out rooms for you to participate and share group discussion with other attendees, so please come prepared to participate.

Registration is Required

You will receive the Zoom link to the email you've provided about 15 minutes before the training begins.
